Adolescents is one age group that I don't generally interact with... I suppose I don't have a reason to and it would be weird if I just actively seek out friends who are teenagers, but Takuya reminded me of the fun I had teaching high school kids, and just how interesting the adolescent mind is. I must admit I had reservations because of his age, but he turned out to be just a genuine young person who's very honest about his feelings, his insecurities, and his passions. I think we often expect teenagers to be full of angst and difficult to communicate with, but Takuya is the perfect example of how if we give these young people a chance and really listen, they can surprise us and teach us a thing or two about sincerity.
